The Reinwardt Academy
The Reinwardt Academy is part of the Reinwardt Academy for cultural heritage, one of the seven faculties of the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Besides the master Applied Museum & Heritage Studies, the Reinwardt Academy offers a bachelor’s programme in cultural heritage. In addition, the Reinwardt Academy has a research group on cultural heritage and, as a centre of expertise, runs heritage labs for continuous professional development. The master’s programme is the only applied programme for museum and heritage studies in the Netherlands. It builds on the well-known international Reinwardt Master of Museology, first offered in 1998. As an international programme, it has drawn students from all over the world.
Over the past ten years, the research group of the Reinwardt Academy, in collaboration with the lecturers and students from the bachelor and master programmes and many colleagues in the museum and heritage field, has closely researched and critically reflected upon the profile of professionals working in the museum sector and the broader heritage field.
